Within the movie adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s lifestyle, Wolf of Wall Street, the main character portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio has committed several crimes that are identified within the Criminal Code of Canada, which are illicit drug consumption and possession, operation of a vehicle while impaired, and fraud. Belfort is guilty of a crime under section 462.2 in the Criminal Code which states that â€Å"Every one who knowingly imports into Canada, exports from Canada, manufactures, promotes or sells instruments or literature for illicit drug use is guilty† (1985). Belfort knowingly consumed cocaine and distributed the drug willingly among himself and his companions on multiple occasions throughout the film. Jordan Belfort’s character also attempted the operation of a motor vehicle after consuming a sedative, sleep-inducing drug called methaqualone, commonly called Quaalude. In the process of driving home he also managed to destroy property. On these grounds, B elfort is guilty of an offence under section 253 which states that anyone who operates any type of vehicle while under the influence of a drug or alcohol is guilty of the offence (Criminal Code, 1985). Lastly, Jordan Belfort is guilty of fraud under section 380 of the Criminal Code, which states that anyone who defrauds an individual or the public of personal possessions such as money or services is guilty of the offence (1985).
